The Israeli Railway announced a suspension of train services in Tel Aviv for seven days, starting August 20, due to essential maintenance and repairs following damage to electrical infrastructure near Ganott Junction. Passengers traveling between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will need to switch at Ben Gurion Airport, as electric trains can’t reach Tel Aviv. Diesel trains are available as alternatives. Additional closures will affect key stations, with services from northern Israel halting at Tel Aviv Savidor Center and those from the south stopping at LOD. To ease disruptions, a temporary bus service will connect stations in Tel Aviv. Transport Minister Mili Regev downplayed the situation, contrasting with railway officials who characterized the damage as significant.
