The suspect in the shooting at Arcadia Lake, Edmond, Oklahoma, on May 3, has been arrested and is now facing murder charges. Eighteen-year-old Jaylan Davis was taken into custody on Wednesday after a fight erupted between rival gang members at a party, leading to at least 80 shots being fired. Initially charged with assault and held on a $1 million bail, his charges have been upgraded to felony murder following the death of one victim, identified as 18-year-old Avianna Smith Gray.
During the investigation, police found firearms and ammunition at Davis’s home that matched evidence from the scene. At least one other suspect is still being sought. Injuries from the shooting affected 23 people, including young victims, with five remaining hospitalized as of Wednesday. The Oklahoma County District Attorney plans to pursue first-degree murder charges against Davis, which could result in a life sentence if he is convicted. A GoFundMe has been set up to assist Smith-Gray’s family.
