In the Michigan Wolverines’ annual spring game on Saturday, the Maze team edged out the Blue team, 7-6. The game was uneventful, with the Maze team recording 15 first downs and 200 yards of offense, while the Blue team had 11 first downs and 149 yards. Although both teams showed some potential, there were few standout moments.
Defensively, the Maze unit appeared strong, particularly the defensive line, which worked well together, limiting offensive big plays.
Winners:
-
QB Carr: Carr made a solid impression, completing 15-of-23 passes for 113 yards and rushing for 51 yards without being sacked. His performance will spark offseason discussions regarding his standing among quarterbacks.
-
RB Jordan Marshall: Despite limited stats (five carries for 21 yards), Marshall demonstrated promise and readiness to break through defenses, even against freshman Savion Heiter, who had more carries and more yardage.
- Defensive Line: Looking dominant, the defensive line showcased their strength with crucial stops, including a goal-line stop. Travis Moten and Jonah Leair both had impressive performances, contributing sacks and tackles.
Loser:
- QB Bryce Underwood: Underwood struggled in his quarter, throwing 1/5 for 16 yards on the Maze team and 2/4 for 6 yards on the Blue team. His performance lacked the big plays needed to impress.
While the game featured some highlights, the lack of explosive moments and excitement surrounding the receivers left something to be desired as the team prepares for the fall season.
