A 30-year-old driver in San Francisco has been charged with murder after allegedly hitting pedestrian Daniel Spielman, 74, and leaving the scene. The incident occurred after an exchange of words when the driver, partially blocking the sidewalk with his car, interpreted Spielman’s actions as a threat, believing he was pouring gasoline on his vehicle. The driver’s attorney claims it was an act of self-defense, arguing that the driver panicked to protect his family, who were in the car. Witnesses report the driver struck Spielman and dragged him several feet before fleeing. The district attorney’s office is pursuing the driver without bail due to security concerns, while the investigation continues. The next court appearance is set for April 24th.
