In the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, North Carolina lost to Clemson 80-79, despite a late comeback led by Henri Vissard, who achieved career highs of 28 points and 17 rebounds. Coach Hubert Davis had emphasized the need for enthusiasm and urgency in the team’s play, but the Tar Heels struggled, trailing by 18 points in the second half.

Davis noted that the team’s inability to respond to Clemson’s physical play hampered their offense, leading to a significant early deficit. Clemson’s Nick Davison led his team with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while their bench outscored UNC 29-5. The Tigers ended the first half with a 39-31 lead and maintained control until late in the game.

Despite showing desperation in their play, the Tar Heels couldn’t secure the win, missing key shots in the final moments. With Caleb Wilson, a first-team All-ACC selection, sidelined due to injuries, UNC faces a critical period to harness the “hunger and thirst” Davis has called for as they prepare for the NCAA Tournament.
