Two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were injured and a suspect was killed in a shooting on a highway in Franklin County on Wednesday evening. Around 6:11 p.m., officers responded to a theft at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Guilford Township. The suspects fled in a gold Chevrolet Express van and were pursued by state police. The chase ended when officers deployed spike strips, but during a traffic stop attempt, the male suspect opened fire, striking two officers.
One suspect, identified as 31-year-old Lamar Foy from Baltimore, was killed in the exchange, while two 21-year-old women in the van were detained. Injured troopers Thomas Pack, 23, was treated and released, while Lucas Amarose, 31, underwent extensive surgery and is in critical condition.
Authorities found a significant quantity of drugs, cash, and stolen property inside the suspect’s van. The incident was deemed part of a larger criminal pattern, and the use of force by officers was ruled justified. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed support for the officers, emphasizing their heroic efforts. An investigation is ongoing, with the Pennsylvania State Police working alongside the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office.
