Israel faces increasing international pressure as Gaza’s aid distribution struggles under a new mechanism supported by the US and Israel. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports 11 deaths and numerous injuries at aid distribution sites, despite the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) claiming no casualties occurred.
Following weeks of Israeli lockdown, rising hunger has led to desperate crowds at GHF sites, causing looting and chaos. Some of Israel’s closest allies, including EU officials, criticize Israel’s actions in Gaza, warning that continued military actions could lead to sanctions.
Reports indicate that humanitarian needs have skyrocketed, with the UN describing the situation as “the darkest point ever.” The new aid distribution framework has drawn criticism for putting people at risk and failing to adequately meet their needs.
While the GHF aims to provide food to 1.2 million people, the UN warns of distribution obstacles, and food shortages persist in many areas, especially in northern Gaza. Residents express frustration over the chaotic distribution, describing it as humiliating and ineffective, with many still lacking essential aid.
