Greek police have arrested five individuals, including UC Berkeley Professor Przemek Jeziorsky’s ex-wife and her current partner, in connection with his murder. Jeziorsky was shot multiple times on July 4th, shortly after meeting his children and attending a custody hearing.
The suspects include two Greek nationals, two Albanians, and one Bulgarian. Jeziorsky’s ex-wife, Constantina “Nadia” Micheridaki, has denied any involvement, according to her lawyer.
Witnesses reported a masked assailant approached Jeziorsky and fired several shots at close range near Micheridaki’s home. Police found multiple bullet casings at the scene.
Jeziorsky, who had no criminal history in Greece, was an economist and marketing professor known for his passion for education. His family expressed heartbreak over his death and stated their primary concern is the wellbeing of his two young children, who are currently in custody of a Greek child services agency.
The family has launched a fundraiser for legal representation in Greece and repatriated Jeziorsky’s body to Poland. UC Berkeley praised his contributions to education and remembered him as a dedicated faculty member.
