Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim mentioned that this change stems from advancements in technology and the expansion of Netflix’s entertainment offerings, including games and live events.
The new layout will feature show and film visuals, highlight titles with details like popularity and awards, and position shortcuts more prominently. There will also be enhancements to the recommendation engine, aligning suggestions more closely with users’ current moods and interests.
Netflix is also embracing a flexible approach to live events and games while still prioritizing on-demand content. Upcoming features include show clips and trailers, as well as TikTok-style vertical video feeds designed for mobile users.
Additionally, Netflix is collaborating with OpenAI to implement an AI-powered search tool that allows users to make specific requests in conversational language. This innovation aims to improve content discovery by enabling users to express preferences naturally, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
