The Seattle Mariners are set to recall outfielder Dominic Canzone to the big leagues following an injury to Victor Robles, who suffered a shoulder injury during a game against the Giants. Despite making a fantastic catch, Robles crashed into the foul territory net. He finished the game but was seen grabbing his left arm and had to be carried off the field. Manager Dan Wilson confirmed that Robles is undergoing tests to evaluate the severity of the injury.
Robles has been a standout player for the Mariners since signing in June after being released by the Nationals earlier that year. In 77 games, he recorded a 154 WRC+ with a .328/.393/.467 batting line and solid defensive stats across multiple outfield positions. Robles signed a two-year extension that keeps him under club control until the end of the 2027 season, poised for a breakout after an inconsistent career marred by injuries.
However, his latest injury raises concerns about his future, as he has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, appearing in only 530 games over eight seasons. The full extent of Robles’ injury is still uncertain, but he is expected to miss time.
In terms of replacing Robles, options for the Mariners are limited. Dylan Moore is having a strong start, but he’s currently dealing with his own injuries. The Mariners may turn to Canzone, who is on the Triple-A roster, or other players like Luke Lowry, Donovan Solano, Austin Shenton, and Tyler Locklear, but navigating Robles’ absence could prove challenging due to a lack of depth in the outfield.
