Louisville’s Central Corridor on Interstate 65 will experience a two-month closure from June 1 to July 31, affecting a 5-mile stretch in both directions. However, a 2-mile southbound segment from University Boulevard to I-264 will reopen by July 1. The closure aims to replace three aging bridges and renovate others, with the goal of enhancing safety and mobility. Traffic will follow detours via I-264 and I-64, and while downtown will remain accessible, significant delays are expected.
Work crews will operate around the clock to complete the project quickly; completing it in this manner is said to save considerable time, as an alternative approach could take a year. For further inquiries, a contact email is provided, along with links to helpful apps and resources for live traffic updates. Updates on the project will continue throughout the closure.
