Hawaiian Airlines will officially cease operations on April 22, 2026, as Alaska Airlines takes over. Despite the transition, Hawaiian’s visual identity, including the Puarani tail and staff uniforms, will remain the same initially. However, booking will change, with flight numbers switching from HA to AS and operations moving to Alaska’s reservation system.
The change follows Alaska’s acquisition of Hawaiian on December 3, 2023, aiming to improve reservations infrastructure. Customer service will also switch to Alaska’s systems, which may be welcome news for frequent flyers due to the retirement of Hawaiian’s Philippines-based call center.
On the same day, Hawaiian will become a member of the Oneworld Alliance, providing enhanced international travel benefits. Alaska has announced significant investments, including $600 million for airport renovations across Hawaii and a complete cabin overhaul for its A330 fleet, set to begin in 2028.
These strategic shifts aim to stabilize operations while maintaining Hawaiian’s brand temporarily, before potential further changes in branding and routes are assessed.
