United Airlines has announced a new tiered fare structure for its premium business class, starting soon. This change introduces three fare types: base, standard, and flexible, similar to their current Polaris and Premium Plus fares.
Notably, the base fare for business class will remove many perks previously included, such as advance seat selection and access to Polaris lounges. Passengers will now need to pay extra for seat reservations and will receive only one checked bag instead of two. The changes will also be applied to the Premium Plus cabin.
The new fare structure is set to roll out in select markets this month and will expand to additional routes by late 2026. This move aligns with United’s goal to compete more effectively in the premium market, similar to trends seen in some international airlines. Although initial reactions from travelers have been mixed, United claims these options will provide more choice and flexibility.
