The Minnesota House of Representatives canceled all committee meetings for Monday due to a snowstorm, encouraging remote attendance for the 3:30 p.m. floor session. As of Sunday afternoon, the Senate’s meetings remain scheduled. The snowstorm has caused about 50 crashes on Minnesota roadways, with injuries reported in two incidents.

More than 100 centimeters of snow is anticipated, leading to widespread school closures. Various businesses in the Twin Cities have shuttered due to the storm. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport has seen hundreds of flight cancellations, with travel not recommended in southern Minnesota due to whiteout conditions. The Minnesota Department of Transportation noted that roads are covered in snow, hampering snowplow efforts.

The Minnesota National Guard is on standby for potential relief efforts, and Governor Tim Walz has authorized their assistance as a precaution. The storm prompted a snow emergency in the Twin Cities, with specific parking plans established to facilitate snow removal. The state has recommended preparing emergency car kits for those who must travel.
