Apple has ceased signing iOS 18.6.2 following the release of iOS 26, meaning users who upgrade to iOS 26 cannot downgrade back to 18.6.2. Signing indicates that a version has passed Apple’s verification process, designed to keep users on the latest and safest iOS version. Users may opt to remain on iOS 18, but upgrading to 26 removes the downgrade option.
Additionally, Apple has stopped signing iPads 18.6.2 and TVOS 18.6, eliminating downgrade possibilities for those devices as well.
In other news, new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air models have reportedly shown scratching, particularly in dark finishes. Apple also released the first beta of iOS 26.1, adding new languages for Apple Intelligence and enhancing AirPods live translation. Expected updates for the next Apple TV include a functioning N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7. Some users of the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro are experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and an upcoming iOS 26.0.1 may address camera-related bugs in these devices.
