In this article, Abigail Chahar, a recent graduate from Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado, is highlighted for her achievements in climate activism. As one of 51 students to earn Colorado’s Seal of Climate Literacy, Abigail completed two classes on climate literacy and developed an experiential project on local climate issues.
Motivated by her awareness of climate change from a young age, Abigail became involved with the Boulder Valley School District’s Green Youth Council, where she deepened her commitment to local climate action. She views the Climate Literacy Seal as a way to raise awareness and advocate for necessary action against climate change.
Her final project focused on the need for practical climate education and community involvement, culminating in an oral presentation outlining five actions to address these challenges. Abigail expresses pride in her leadership role within the Green Youth Council and her collaborative work with like-minded volunteers.
Looking ahead, she plans to pursue bioengineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, continue her climate-focused research, and join the Climate Club, dedicated to fostering innovation and advocacy for climate change solutions.
