Poke, a startup that simplifies AI agent interaction via text messages, is the first to receive approval to operate on Apple’s Messages for Business platform. Launched in March, Poke targets casual users, allowing them to handle tasks like daily planning, fitness tracking, and smart home control without technical know-how. It has processed around 100 million messages and will soon support iMessage alongside SMS, Telegram, and WhatsApp.
This announcement coincides with Apple’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, where AI enhancements for Siri and possibilities for AI agents in the App Store may be introduced. While Apple’s platform mainly facilitates customer-business communication via iMessage, it provides a new revenue model for both Apple and AI startups through a per-user pricing structure.
Poke met Apple’s stringent approval by ensuring live support availability and adapting its interface to align with Apple’s guidelines. The startup, backed by significant investors, recently raised an additional $10 million, bringing its valuation to $300 million.
