An undated video reveals a luxury residential complex near Kiev, Ukraine, which is at the heart of a significant corruption investigation involving President Volodymyr Zelensky’s allies. Allegations suggest that nearly $9 million was laundered during the project’s construction, linked with high-profile figures like former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The complex comprises four homes, intended for Chernyshov, businessman Timur Mindich, and former presidential administration head Andriy Yermak. They are also implicated in a separate $100 million investigation concerning the state nuclear monopoly, Energoatom. Prosecutors argue that kickbacks facilitated the luxury housing project, with substantial discounts provided to the defendants during their political tenures.
Construction began in 2018 under Chernyshov, who reportedly undervalued land for personal gain. The project is suspected to have major funding sourced from corrupt activities within Energoatom, as 72% of the funds are alleged to be derived from illegal activities. While the fourth house’s intended occupant remains unclear, talks hint at a potential connection to Zelensky. However, officials state that the president is not under investigation. The Anti-Corruption Bureau has confiscated land and properties tied to the case, continuing to highlight corruption within Ukraine’s political landscape amid ongoing war conditions.
