Austin, Texas, will soon welcome the luxury hotel 1 Hotel Austin, set to open in August with 252 rooms in the new Waterline building, the tallest tower in Texas. Designed with a focus on sustainability and natural materials, the hotel aims to foster a connection with the environment, viewing the area around Waller Creek and Lady Bird Lake through a biophilic lens.
Reservations are now open, and notable features include the signature restaurant Alteño Austin, from Chef Johnny Curiel, which will showcase highland Jalisco cuisine. Additional dining options will include Watr, a rooftop Japanese restaurant, and Neighbors, a café and wine bar.
The hotel will offer a range of amenities, including 60 luxury suites, wellness options like a fitness center and yoga studio, and a spa inspired by Hill Country bathhouses. It is also pursuing LEED Gold certification for its sustainability efforts, which include waste reduction programs and encouraging guests to donate gently used clothing.
Barry Sternlicht, founder of 1 Hotels, highlighted Austin’s innovative spirit and commitment to the environment. The hotel will be located at 96 Red River St., with introductory room rates starting at $377.
