Investigators in Tennessee are searching for Craig Berry, a retired Special Forces veteran, who is suspected of fatally shooting his wife in Dover and then fleeing into nearby woods. Berry has been on the run since early Friday, and a warrant has been issued for him on charges of attempted second-degree murder. The investigation is complicated by his military background, which gives him survival skills. He is believed to be armed with at least one handgun and has potential access to extra ammunition.
The search efforts are made difficult by rugged terrain, with a trail camera capturing an image of Berry in camouflage. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that he might have received outside help. Nearby Stewart County Middle School has implemented a “soft lockdown” as a precaution, although officials state there was no direct threat to the school.
This case recalls a previous manhunt in 2018 for a murder suspect in Stewart County, which lasted several days before the suspect’s capture. The situation remains under investigation and updates are expected.
