OMSI’s new permanent exhibition, “Climate of Change,” explores climate change through personal and interactive experiences, emphasizing both local impacts in the Pacific Northwest and global effects. The bilingual exhibit features hands-on activities and visuals designed for accessibility, catering to visitors of all ages.
Upon entering, guests explore how climate change specifically affects Oregon, followed by a broader understanding of climate science and actionable solutions. One highlight is “Journey of Presence,” an immersive installation that connects visitors’ actions to the natural world through movement sensors.
The exhibit also showcases art and storytelling, predominantly using hand-drawn visuals, and includes a space for visitors to acknowledge the emotional aspects of climate change. In partnership with Oregon State University’s PRAx Gallery, OMSI will present rotating art exhibits focused on themes like water, highlighting creativity as a path to resilience.
