Rex Heuerman, who admitted to killing eight women found along Long Island’s Gilgo Beach, confessed to his ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, that he murdered seven victims in their Massapequa Park home. In a preview for the final episode of the Peacock documentary series, Ellerup stated Heuerman confessed to killing eight women without hesitation, though he appeared nervous.
Heuerman, 62, was charged with the murders of seven women but recently changed his plea to guilty for the murder of the eighth victim, Karen Vergata. As part of a plea agreement, he will cooperate with the FBI but has not agreed to disclose crime details. Heuerman admitted to meeting and strangling all eight women, whose bodies were found in locations such as Gilgo Beach and Southampton.
The investigation into the murders began after the search for Shanann Gilbert, who went missing in 2010. Heuerman was arrested in 2023 and charged with killing members of the Gilgo Four, sex workers whose bodies were discovered between 2010 and 2011. He faces a possible sentence of life in prison without parole, with a hearing scheduled for June 17. NBC News reached out to his attorney for comment but had not received a response.
