Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport resumed limited commercial flights on Thursday after five days of war, initiating repatriation efforts for approximately 100,000 Israelis stranded abroad. The first flight, an El Al plane from Athens, landed at 6:05 a.m., followed by others from Rome and local airlines. Departure flights are set to begin on Sunday, pending security evaluations.

The airport operations are cautious due to ongoing threats from Iranian missile attacks, leading to restrictions on landing frequencies. El Al aims to facilitate repatriation from 22 international locations, with operations planned over the weekend despite prohibitions during the Jewish Sabbath.

Transport Minister Miri Regev announced preparations to reopen outbound flights starting Sunday, also highlighting security measures for passengers. Ticket sales for El Al are paused until later this month to allocate seats for those affected by flight cancellations.
