Curt Cignetti has secured an extended eight-year contract with Indiana University, valued at approximately $11.6 million annually, keeping him with the Hoosiers through the 2033 season. The contract is fully guaranteed, ensuring a payout of $93 million if he’s fired without cause. Cignetti expressed his commitment to Indiana, saying, “I plan on retiring as a Hoosier,” highlighting his pride in the community and the football program’s successes.
Indiana University President Pamela Witten praised Cignetti, referring to him as a “winner” after a remarkable turnaround of the football program. Under Cignetti’s leadership, Indiana went from one of the weakest teams in the Big Ten to a national contender, posting an 11-2 record that included a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Currently, the team is off to a 6-0 start this season, tied at the top of the Big Ten. Cignetti previously signed a six-year, $27 million contract and had earned a raise less than a year later. His track record includes successful stints at IUP, Elon, and James Madison.
