YouTuber and Twitch streamer MoistCr1TiKaL is disabling all forms of monetization on his platforms, encouraging fans to keep their money or donate to charity instead. This decision comes in light of ongoing controversies surrounding large donations to streamers, including a tragic incident where a streamer was murdered by a viewer who donated $70,000.
In a recent YouTube video, MoistCr1TiKaL explained his actions, emphasizing that he has disabled monetization features like Super Chat and raised the minimum donation on Twitch to discourage spending. He criticized the partner programs that limit creators’ ability to turn off these monetization options, stating he wishes he could simply tell viewers not to subscribe.
He strongly believes that viewers should use their money for charity rather than for streaming. MoistCr1TiKaL asserted that many deserving organizations could benefit from donations, suggesting that this is a more meaningful way to spend money. He expressed that the streaming community might see more creators follow his lead in rejecting monetization practices in the future.
