Ryan Henphil, a private equity executive, has been indicted on 116 counts, including predatory sexual assault, rape, and assault, following allegations that he raped and assaulted six women in his New York City apartment over five months. Prosecutors from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office indicated that there may be more victims, as Henphil reportedly used his wealth to manipulate and threaten women. The charges stem from incidents starting October 3rd, and he was arrested on March 1st. During his court appearance, Henphil pleaded not guilty and was ordered to remain in jail without bail.
The allegations include severe physical and sexual violence, with claims that Henphil recorded his assaults using video cameras in his apartment and threatened women with weapons. In some instances, he is accused of coaxing women to disclose past traumas and then reenacting those experiences. Prosecutors also revealed that Henphil boasted about his legal connections and coerced women to withdraw complaints for money. If convicted, he could face life in prison. The judge cited concerns over his potential to evade justice as the reason for denying bail.
