Officials in Riverside and San Bernardino counties held a press conference to discuss the death and presumed death of seven-month-old Emmanuel Halo, whose parents, Rebecca and Jake Halo, have been charged with murder. District Attorney Mike Hestlin noted strong indications of where the baby’s body may be, although it has not been recovered. The authorities believe Emmanuel suffered abuse from his parents over time, which led to his demise.
Rebecca Halo previously reported an attack on August 14 in Yucaipa, claiming Emmanuel was taken. However, she and Jake later ceased cooperating with investigators. During an interview, Jake spoke about Emmanuel in the past tense, raising concerns among viewers.
Both parents were arrested at their home in Cabazon, with prior records affecting their cases—Jake had previously pleaded guilty to child abuse involving another child but avoided prison time. Hestlin criticized the judicial decision that allowed Jake to remain free, suggesting it contributed to Emmanuel’s fate.
The parents are currently in custody with bail set at $1 million, facing additional charges of filing false police reports.
