European Union leaders recently convened in Brussels to reinforce their commitment to support Ukraine amid ongoing military challenges. Despite some territorial gains by Russian forces, casualties and equipment losses mount on both sides, with Ukrainian troops increasingly relying on drones. The EU continues to back Ukraine’s bid for EU membership, even as NATO leaders refrained from endorsing military ties with Ukraine.
Efforts to impose additional sanctions on Russia are underway, aimed at targeting its oil tanker operations to undermine funding for the war. While most EU member states support these measures, Hungary has expressed opposition.
Leaders also addressed the dire humanitarian situation, particularly in Gaza, condemning civilian casualties and urging Israel to lift blockades.
