At least six Columbia University students were arrested during a raid on the university library, including individuals previously arrested for similar incidents. Collectively, 81 people were arrested, with 44 being Columbia students and others from Barnard College and Union Seminary. The group reportedly clashed with security, damaged property, and distributed pro-Hamas materials.
Among the arrested was Ramona Sarusgaard, daughter of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, who advocates for environmental issues. Several students—including those involved in past campus conflicts—faced disciplinary actions. Suda Polat, a graduate student, had previously negotiated on behalf of an anti-Semitic student group.
Other notable arrests included Johanna King Surtsky and Anjali Vishwanath, who expressed pride in their actions for Palestine. The university has not commented publicly on the incidents, and many involved did not respond to inquiries.
