In a historic milestone for space missions, SpaceX’s Crew-10 mission, which launched on March 14, 2023, features an all-female leadership team, showcasing collaboration between astronauts from the US, Japan, and Russia. Upon entering microgravity, the crew introduced their Zero-G indicator, an origami crane named “Droog,” hand-crafted to symbolize cultural unity and the contributions of all involved in space exploration. NASA Commander Am McClain emphasized the crane’s design, which includes flags from each participating country and markings representing their shared experiences as professional pilots. The origami crane also carries symbolic significance as a representation of peace, hope, and healing, drawing connections to the aftermath of Japan’s 2011 earthquake. McClain remarked on the importance of teamwork in their mission, stating, “If you want to go far, we go together.” Crew-10 is set to dock at the International Space Station’s Harmony Module, where they will support the Expedition 72 crew before transitioning to Expedition 73.
