In a preliminary hearing in Utah, Lance Twiggs, the ex-girlfriend of Tyler Robinson, the accused in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, testified that Robinson expressed remorse after the shooting. She reported that he “wished he hadn’t done it” and acknowledged responsibility in a prior conversation. The court displayed video evidence of Twiggs’ interview, revealing text messages that hinted at Robinson’s potential motivations and actions leading up to the shooting.
On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University. Twiggs, a key witness, described events surrounding the murder, including how Robinson had previously discussed carving messages into bullets and hinted at plans for violence through text exchanges. Robinson’s family appeared visibly distressed during the testimony.
The judge has postponed making a ruling on whether to send the case to trial, with oral arguments set for September 1. If convicted, Robinson could face the death penalty.
