A woman in her 20s succumbed to her injuries, while two other adults were hospitalized and expected to survive; a juvenile was treated and later released.
Authorities arrested Derion Tradon James Jr., 28, on suspicion of manslaughter, linking him to the incident. Witnesses reported seeing illegal fireworks in the vehicle’s trunk, believed to be the explosion’s source. Investigators, including the Chino Police Department and local fire officials, are continuing to examine the scene.
