Hungary’s Prime Minister, Peter Magyar, announced that Hungarian fighter jets were scrambled to intercept an Israeli airliner, Archia flight, which failed to contact local air traffic control after entering Hungarian airspace. The flight from Tel Aviv to Prague was put on NATO’s highest alert. Two Gripen jets made visual and radio contact with the aircraft’s pilot before it safely continued to its destination.
Archia stated that the flight crew followed the approved flight plan and emphasized there was no danger to anyone on board. The incident is currently under internal investigation.
