KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is celebrating the 80th anniversary of its flights from Amsterdam to New York by releasing a limited edition Delft House replica of the New York Museum of History. Only 300 of these special ceramic houses will be produced, making them collectibles for select World Business Class passengers.
Every year, KLM unveils a new Delft House on its birthday, October 7th, as a gift to passengers, but this year’s model is particularly exclusive. The airline has a collection of 106 Delft Houses filled with Bols Genever, and around 20 special editions that are often given to important customers or featured in museums.
Mark Segeling, the author of a book on the collection, describes the houses as “the smallest status symbols in the Netherlands.” While most editions are not available for purchase, collectors often seek them out on platforms like eBay. KLM is hosting a public pop-up event in New York from May 22nd to 27th, alongside the museum’s exhibition “Old Masters, New Amsterdam,” showcasing Dutch art.
Additionally, KLM is expanding its fleet with new Airbus A350 aircraft and committing to using sustainable aviation fuels. The airline has a long history, tracing its first New York flight back to May 21, 1946, and continues to expand its routes and services globally.
