A tornado struck Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, causing significant damage and injuries but miraculously no fatalities. Annunciata Schwebel witnessed the destruction via FaceTime as her friend sought shelter in a bathtub, with walls and roofs being torn apart. The storm, which affected five counties, resulted in around 500 homes being damaged and at least 17 people injured. Survivors described harrowing experiences of hiding from the storm, while emergency responders worked in the aftermath, clearing debris and providing shelter.
Local residents expressed gratitude for their safety despite the devastation, with many sharing stories of close calls. Governor Tate Reeves emphasized community support and prayers, and recovery efforts are ongoing, with volunteers assisting those affected. The resilience of the community shone through as survivors salvaged what they could and supported each other in the wake of the disaster.
