Obtaining accurate sales data in the gaming industry is challenging, but Alinea Analytics has released new forecasts regarding the performance of Microsoft exclusive games ported to the PlayStation 5. The report identifies 13 games that have sold over 100,000 copies since the PS5’s launch, excluding titles like Call of Duty and Minecraft.
The top-selling games include:
- Forza Horizon 5 – 5.8 million
- Sea of Thieves – 2.7 million
- Oblivion Remastered – 1.2 million
- Grounded – 770K
- Gears of War: Reloaded – 684K
- Doom: The Dark Ages – 567K
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – 537K
- Ninjagaiden 4 – 262K
- Microsoft Flight Simulator – 252K
- Starfield – 207K
- Age of Empires 2 Remastered – 173K
- The Outer Worlds 2 – 163K
- Age of Mythology Retelling – 123K
Collectively, these games generated approximately $667 million in revenue for Microsoft. Notable insights include Forza Horizon 5’s dominance and the satisfactory performance of multiplayer games. In contrast, Starfield’s sales were disappointing compared to legacy games.
The analysis raises questions about the effectiveness of Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy, particularly as Xbox’s leadership reevaluates its approach. As interest in Xbox-exclusive games on PS5 wanes, future sales potential remains uncertain.
