Israeli police recently killed two young Palestinian brothers, Mohammed (5) and Osman (7), along with their parents, Waad (35) and Ali Bani Odeh (37), as they returned from shopping during Ramadan. The family was attacked in Tamun, with all four shot in the face and head. This incident occurred shortly after Israeli settlers shot and killed a Palestinian man nearby.
Since a shooting incident in 2019, where police faced charges, Israeli forces have killed over 1,400 Palestinians, including many children and women, with near-total impunity. The incident has raised concerns about ongoing violence against civilians, notably following intensified military operations linked to the conflict with Iran.
Khalid (11), the surviving brother, reported that the shooting was sudden and unprovoked, leading to physical abuse from Israeli forces after the attack. Eyewitnesses noted that ambulances were initially blocked from reaching the scene. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the killings as extrajudicial executions and part of a systematic operation against Palestinians.
Israeli authorities claimed the family was targeted during an operation against suspected terrorists. However, they faced criticism for failing to explain the perceived threat posed by the unarmed family. The situation reflects broader tensions and violence in the region, exacerbated by recent conflicts.
