On Friday afternoon, authorities arrested 28-year-old Isaac Paval for stealing a Sacramento Police Department patrol car and vandalism. Police initially responded to a report of vandalism on Marysville Boulevard, where a witness stated a homeless person threw a bucket at a tire and Paval attacked him with a stick.
As officers tried to detain Paval, he escaped and drove off in a marked police cruiser, prompting a pursuit that involved the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The chase, which began shortly after 12:30 p.m., continued on Highway 99 and included attempted PIT maneuvers by officers.
Paval eventually slowed down, exited the stolen cruiser, and lay on the ground, where he was taken into custody near Turner Road. While Paval was hospitalized for treatment, he will face multiple felony charges related to the incident. The investigation is ongoing, particularly regarding a possible rifle in his possession. No police officers were injured during the pursuit.
