A tornado struck Bristow in Okmulgee County, resulting in two fatalities and significant damage, including to the Beggs Public School campus. Tornado watches are in effect until 4 a.m. for several counties, while severe thunderstorm warnings are active for multiple areas until various times throughout the night.
Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols reported no injuries in Tulsa, urging residents to stay home as storms continue. Governor Kevin Stitt expressed support for recovery efforts. Significant damage and scattered power outages affecting over 6,000 customers have been reported in Tulsa County. Emergency crews are assessing damage, particularly in north Tulsa, with closures due to downed power lines and gas leaks.
Flash flood warnings are also issued for parts of Tulsa and Wagoner counties, where rainfall has led to flooding. As of now, efforts to gather more information on the storm’s impact are ongoing, with continued weather monitoring advised.
