Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to feature a front camera notch in the top left corner of the screen, alongside a new under-display Face ID system. This design change, reported by Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech, will relocate the Dynamic Island software feature to the same corner, which previously centered the pill-shaped interactive area that concealed the notch.
The under-display Face ID will enable a smaller visible area for the front camera, moving away from the black oval seen in past models. Other reports suggest that while under-display Face ID may be feasible, a slimmed-down Dynamic Island could still exist. There’s some speculation regarding whether these claims are based on insider information or assumptions from earlier rumors.
Additional features rumored for the iPhone 18 series include new color options, a variable aperture camera system, simplified camera controls, an A20 Pro chip, and enhanced 5G capabilities. The official unveiling is anticipated in September, with a potential split launch cycle involving regular models next spring.
Notably, Prosser is currently facing legal issues with Apple over alleged unauthorized access to confidential information, yet this hasn’t deterred him from releasing videos on Apple rumors.
