Marcus Woodson has been appointed as the assistant defensive coordinator at Kansas State University, focusing on the defensive backs. Head coach Colin Klein announced the move, highlighting Woodson’s 21 years of coaching experience. Previously, Woodson was co-defensive coordinator at the University of Arkansas, where he significantly improved their pass defense and overall yardage allowed.
Woodson has a diverse coaching background, including roles at Florida State, Auburn, and Memphis, where he helped shape several successful defenses. His teams consistently ranked high in national statistics, notably leading to multiple players being drafted into the NFL, including notable selections from Florida State.
A former safety at Ole Miss, Woodson also holds a degree in political science. He expresses excitement about joining Kansas State and contributing to building a strong team culture. Woodson is married with two sons.
