The U.S. Department of Justice has released a trove of documents, including photographs of child sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, showcasing their connections to British high society, particularly through Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The images include moments where Epstein and Maxwell are with Andrew at Balmoral and Ascot, with one notable photo showing Maxwell outside 10 Downing Street.
Many images, including one with former President Bill Clinton and actor Kevin Spacey, shed light on how Prince Andrew facilitated access for Epstein and Maxwell to elite circles. The release follows the passage of the Epstein File Transparency Act, which mandated the public disclosure of all investigation-related documents.
While Prince Andrew’s relationship with Epstein prompted his withdrawal from royal duties in 2019, he ultimately settled a lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault. The documents also reignite scrutiny over connections between Epstein and various public figures. Critics, including Epstein survivor Liz Stein, express concern that the released information is incomplete. Stein emphasized the importance of full transparency for justice in a case spanning decades and diverse global jurisdictions.
