Oyo Hotels has terminated its management contract with Highgate Hotels, the operator of Oyo Las Vegas, due to a serious cybersecurity incident. Highgate’s abrupt dismissal has raised confusion, as they managed the hotel’s room booking system, impacting its ability to process reservations. The incident, which reportedly exposed personal information of 4,700 individuals, was discovered on September 18, although Oyo had flagged Highgate’s poor IT practices weeks earlier.
Highgate, which has been managing Oyo since 2019, is also involved in a dispute regarding another hotel in Times Square. Oyo, which has a tumultuous history of ownership changes, is now tasked with finding a new operator for the Las Vegas hotel, which has only 657 rooms and was fully booked at the time of the incident. Neither Oyo nor Highgate have publicly commented on the situation.
