A water main break has shut down a section of Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh, with repairs expected to last until at least Monday afternoon. The break occurred early Sunday near Nova Star Lane, affecting traffic and causing water outages for some nearby homes. Lowry Water Deputy Director Ed Buchan mentioned that replacement parts are needed, and service restoration may extend to Tuesday or Wednesday.
Detour routes have been established for drivers. The break involved a 12-inch pipe, the cause of which remains unknown. Buchan noted the excavation required for repairs is significant, though fortunately, it hasn’t caused further damage to surrounding infrastructure.
The City of Raleigh has advised that repair schedules may change based on weather and other factors, thanking the public for their patience. The North Carolina State Fair is set to begin Thursday, adding urgency to the repairs.
