Operations at major European airports were disrupted on Saturday due to cyberattacks targeting check-in and boarding service providers. Brussels Airport announced that it would cancel half of its scheduled Sunday flights to manage the resulting chaos. Passengers were advised to confirm their flights before heading to the airport.
Reports indicated significant delays and cancellations at airports in London, Berlin, and Brussels, with hundreds of flights affected. Collins Aerospace, a service provider, confirmed “cyber-related disruptions” impacting electronic check-in and baggage drop systems.
Additional issues were reported at Heathrow due to “technical issues” with third-party suppliers, while Berlin’s Brandenburg Airport acknowledged long wait times at check-in. Dublin and Cork airports also faced minor impacts. The cyberattack came shortly after a similar incident at an airport in St. Petersburg, Russia.
