In a tragic shooting at Evergreen High School outside Denver, a 16-year-old named Desmond Holly, who had shown interest in neo-Nazi ideologies and previous mass shootings, opened fire before taking his own life. Holly had been active in an online forum that promotes white supremacy and violent content since December. His TikTok account contained white supremacist symbols and references to extremist slogans, and the platform has since banned his account.
Law enforcement indicates that Holly was radicalized by an unspecified “extremist network.” Days before the shooting, he posted content mimicking previous shooters. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) noted a connection between these attacks, emphasizing that perpetrators often refer to each other’s actions. Holly’s posts included references to notorious mass shooters and encouragement from others to become a “hero,” a term used by white supremacists.
Currently, investigations are ongoing, with Holly’s family unavailable for comment. The case draws parallels to the infamous Columbine High School shooting that took place in the same county in 1999, where 14 people were killed.
