Rockstar Games recently released the Kortz Heist update for Grand Theft Auto Online, featuring a new art heist and various new cars and clothing. However, the addition of two trees on a winding road near a mansion led to significant online backlash. Initially, players speculated whether the trees were meant to block shortcuts or enhance gameplay.
The controversy escalated when a Reddit user shared a tweet highlighting the change, accusing Rockstar of making the game unnecessarily challenging by sealing off shortcuts and making navigation tougher. This drew over 12,000 upvotes and numerous comments from frustrated players.
Interestingly, after testing, some players found the trees actually aided in navigating the shortcut by guiding them onto the road instead of into a trap known as the “Tennis Court of Shame.” While the true intent behind the trees remains unclear, they seem to serve as visual markers rather than obstacles. Overall, players expressed dissatisfaction with Rockstar’s changes, but many hope the trees are simply harmless additions rather than an intentional annoyance.
