In the Bahamas, local airline operations have been suspended following a tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of ten people, including members of a local band and a DJ. The crash involved a Bahamian-registered Cessna 402, which encountered difficulties shortly after departing from Nassau and crashed into dense bushes. The sole survivor was rescued from the wreckage.
Bahamian Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis expressed condolences and support for the victims’ families. In a separate incident just hours prior, a Flamingo Airlines flight was forced to return to Nassau due to pilot concerns, after which the plane caught fire on the runway. Consequently, the Bahamas Civil Aviation Authority temporarily suspended Flamingo Airlines’ flight operator license as a safety precaution, stating it shouldn’t be seen as a compliance issue. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the Cessna crash.
