Wells, described as caring and athletic, went missing on July 4 after a boat ride with three friends. His body was found on July 6, leading to skepticism from his family about the circumstances of his disappearance, as they questioned why he drowned when he was a strong swimmer in a crowded area.
Regional authorities believe he accidentally drowned and do not suspect foul play, but Crump highlighted inconsistencies among witness accounts, raising doubts about the official narrative. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and seeking information, while Wells’ family has initiated an independent autopsy.
