The team is awaiting MRI results for infielder David Hamilton, who may be placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue.
Lara, just 21, recently signed a seven-year, $31 million extension and has excelled in Triple-A, posting a .321 batting average with nine home runs and 24 stolen bases this season. While concerns exist about his 5-foot-7 frame, he is recognized for his speed, fielding, and plate discipline, with the potential to become a star if he maintains his recent power improvements.
His role remains uncertain, as he has played exclusively in the outfield, and the Brewers already have valuable outfielders in Jackson Chorio, Garrett Mitchell, and Sal Frelick. There’s speculation about Frelick possibly shifting to third base, given recent underperformance from both Hamilton and the other infielders. As they address these roster challenges, Milwaukee’s front office may also seek to enhance their left-side infield options in the coming weeks.
